Course Version Revision

What happens when you want to make a course revision?

What happens when you update a course that users have already completed?

Lets answer these questions!

You have a couple options for revising a course to a new version.

1. Simply adding a new section and activity to a course will cause all user completions to be moved to the new course; however, the users will be marked as 'archived' in their training history, and on reports the content status will read 'archived'.

2. Copying a course, archiving the old version, and revising the new course.

1. Proceed to a Course > Click Screenshot 2023-09-01 at 2.09.33 PM.png > Copy Course.

    • First step is to copy the course

2. Go to the New Course > Make Revisions.

    • Edit the course you just copied, add or delete activities, sections etc.

3. Click Screenshot 2023-09-01 at 2.09.33 PM.png > Click 'Update Course' > Click 'Specify Old Version' > 'Rename old version'.

    • This step is done in the copied version of the course, specify the old version of the course, and rename the old version as archived.

4. Update Course.

    • To finalize.

Note: Replacing a course will deactivate it and transfer all completions to this course as archived completions. This cannot be undone.
