Dynamic Date Filters in Acorn Reporting

This article explains how to use the new dynamic date range filters in Acorn reporting.

Users can now choose between more (dynamic) date filtering options, providing greater control and precision in data analysis. This feature is available across various reports, including Content Completion, Live Learning Attendance, Content Overview, several Capability reports, and Forms. By default, the filter is set to 'Last 30 Days' from the current time, but users can customize this to suit their reporting needs.

Step-by-Step Guide

  1. Access the Report:

    • Navigate to the desired report within the Acorn PLMS interface.
    • Note this is currently applicable to Content Completion, Live Learning Attendance, Content Overview, several Capability reports, and Forms reports.
  2. Locate the Date Filter:

    • In the 3rd Step the date filter is prominently displayed at the top of the report customization interface.
  3. Choose a Date Option:

    • Choose from predefined ranges such as 'Last 7 Days', 'Last 30 Days', or 'This Month'.
    • 6. Select Use Calendar days if you want to limit to full calendar days only. This will be reflected in the Completed Date To/From (5) and limit the time period from 12:00am to 11:59pm.
    • If you leave 'Use calendar days' unticked, it will generate the time period from the time of the report generation backwards (e.g 2:01 pm in this screenshot)
  4. Custom Date Picker:
    • For more tailored date ranges, use the custom date picker to manually set the start and end dates.
  5. Confirm the output
    • Verify the Completed Date From/To and move on to any other filters you might want to add to the report.

The updated date filter functionality empowers users to perform more precise and relevant data analysis. By offering both absolute and relative date options, users can tailor their reports to meet specific analytical needs and schedule automated reporting with more precision.

The true value of dynamic date filtering comes when paired with scheduled reporting. You can now also save dynamic date filters in your presets, meaning you can easily configure your monthly content completion report to include data from the last calendar month.
