Configuring Your Capability Framework

Build the skills framework that drives assessments and development plans in your organisation.

Overview

Your capability framework defines the skills and proficiency levels your organisation uses for assessments and development planning.

Step 1: Set up Capability Library

  1. Go to Admin > Capability Dashboard > Setup Capability Library.
  2. You can select an existing template, proceed without a template and build your library manually, or upload your own.
    1. If you are selecting an existing template, you can skip Step 2.

Proceeding with a template 

  1. Review and edit your Capability Sets, Capabilities, and Proficiencies. Edit as necessary.

  2. Click Done > Publish Capability Library

Step 2: Add Proficiency Levels, Capability Sets, and Capabilities

  1. Click Add Proficiency Levels.
  2. Name your level.
  3. Select an appropriate iconv (optional).
  4. Repeat until all your levels are added. Click Next.

Proceeding without a template    

  1. Add your Capability Sets. Enter the name, description, select the icon, and repeat. Remember, these are sets to which individual capabilities will be added. For example, "Account Management". Repeat until all sets are added.

  2. Add your Capabilities. Select the Capability Set you are adding to. For example, "Cross-sell and Upsell Execution" into the "Account Management" set.

    Enter the capability name and description. Toggle on relevant proficiency levels and provide a description. If a proficiency is not relevant to the set, leave it off. Repeat until you have added all capabilities to sets. Click Done > Publish Capability Library.

Uploading your own Capability Library

  1. Follow the instructions for preparing your CSV. Upload your CSV.

  2. Review your Capability Library to validate the data. Edit the generated icon if necessary. Click Next. Click Confirm > Publish Capability Library.

Step 3: Assign capabilities to Content

  1. Go to Admin > Capabilities Dashboard > Add Capabilities to Content > Manually Map Capabilities to Content
  2. Filter Capability Set Name and/or Capability Name. Select the proficiency you are mapping content to. Click Confirm.
  3. Filter through Content Name and/or Content Type. Click Confirm.
  4. Finalize by confirming or editing.

Step 3: Assign capabilities to Cohorts

  1. Go to Admin > Capabilities Dashboard > Add Capabilities to Cohort > Select AI-Driven Capability Mapping from Job Description or Manually Map Capabilities to Cohorts

AI Mapping

  1. Upload a job description and let Acorn AI suggest the right capabilities and proficiency levels for the appropriate cohort. Review and adjust the recommendations as needed before finalising.

Manual Mapping

  1. Select the Cohort. Click on Add Capabilities.
  2. Filter through the Capability Name, Set Name, and Level. Select and Confirm.

You can add, edit, or deactivate capabilities at any time. Deactivating a capability hides it from new assessments but retains historical data.

Note: Changes to proficiency level names or values affect all existing assessments using that level.
