How to Reset a User's Password

Reset passwords yourself or on behalf of your users.

Self-service password reset

  1. Go to your Acorn login page.
  2. Click Forgot Password.

  3. Enter the account email address and click Send Reset Link.

  4. Check email (including spam/junk) for the reset link.
  5. Click the link and enter a new password.

Note: Reset links expire after 24 hours. If the link has expired, repeat the process.

Admin-led password reset

  1. Go to Admin > Users Management > Browse and Update Users and find the user.
  2. Navigate to the user and click on the pencil  below Update User
  3. Click Force Password Change. You can also create a temporary password by filling out the Password and Confirm Password sections.  This lets the user log in right away without waiting for a reset email.
  4. Click Save Changes.

If the reset email never arrives

  • Check spam/junk folders.
  • Confirm that the email address in Update User is correct.

  • Check whether the user's email domain has suppressed Acorn emails — see Email Suppression List.
  • Whitelist noreply@acorn.works with your email provider.

SSO users

Users who log in via SSO do not have an Acorn password. Redirect them to your IT team to reset their corporate credentials.
