Managing Cohorts in Acorn
Group users into cohorts to control access, automate enrolments, and simplify reporting.
What is a cohort?
A cohort is a group of users in Acorn. Cohorts are used to control access to courses, automate enrolments, restrict Momentum workflows, and filter reports.
Creating a cohort
- Go to Admin > User Management > Manage Cohorts > Create Cohort.
- Enter a name and optional description.
- Create Cohort.

Mannually adding users to a static cohort
- Open the cohort.
- Click Add Users.
- Search and select users.
- Confirm.

Dynamic cohort rules
- Open the cohort and click Assign User Fields.
- Add conditions based on user attributes (e.g. department = 'Finance', role = 'Manager', hire date < 90 days ago). It is important to pay attention to the All and Any field under "Users must match".
- Update Field Conditions — Acorn will automatically add/remove users as they meet or no longer meet the rules.
