How to Create a URL Activity
This article will show you how to create a URL activity. URLs can be added to a Course or Live Learning as an activity type.
1. Navigate to the Course or live learning you wish to create the URL activity in.
2. Click on the cog button, and select Start Editing from the dropdown menu.
3. Now in edit mode, you can create activities in the course/live learning by clicking on CREATE ACTIVITY.
- Course - In a course you will find this within the course section you are adding the activity to (as demonstrated in the GIF below). The create activity button looks like this:
- Live Learning - In a live learning you will find this button within the event you are adding the activity to. The create activity button in a live learning looks like this:
4. Select URL from the Activity Type dropdown menu.
5. Fill in the following details:

URL Name - e.g. Office Productivity website.

URL Description - e.g. Tips for increasing office productivity.

Show description on Course page - Configure the optional toggle button to prevent the URL description from displaying in the Course view page (directly below the URL name). The default setting (toggle on) is to display the URL description.

URL - e.g. https://acorn.works/us

Hidden to Users - By default your URL activity will be visible (not hidden). If you turn the hidden to users toggle on, it will hide the activity from your end users. A hidden activity is never visible to end users, and is used to restrict access to certain material to administrators and facilitators only.

Icon (optional) - Click the SELECT ICON button to choose a simple icon to appear adjacent to the activity name in the course/live learning view page. Click the CHANGE ICON button to change it, or click directly on the icon to remove it.

Previous Course Completion Prerequisite - Configure the optional toggle button to require the user to have completed this course previously to be allowed access to this activity. This is useful for refresher training, that might allow users a shorter version of the content if they have done the training before. The default setting (toggle off) is not to require the course/live learning to have been completed prior.

Activity Prerequisites (optional) - Click the ADD PREREQUISITE button to define if All or Any of the selected activities must be completed before this activity can be accessed by users. If a prerequisite is hidden to a user for any reason, they will not be required to complete it before accessing this activity.

Completion Criteria - Select one of the following three activity completion criteria before this activity can be marked as completed: Users must click the URL in this activity; Users must manually mark themselves complete for this activity (regardless of having visited the website); or Disable activity completion if there is no requirement to mark off this activity as completed.
4. Click CREATE ACTIVITY button (if creating the URL activity), or UPDATE ACTIVITY button (if updating the URL activity) at the bottom of the page.
You have now successfully configured a URL activity!
