[User Management](https://help.acorn.works/help-centre/help-articles?hsLang=en-au#user-management) 24 September 2026 # How to Edit a Cohort ## This article will show guide Admins through editing a cohort Admins can edit a cohort to update its name, description, features, supervisor permissions, join requests, cohort managers, and tax exemption settings. The steps and available settings are described below. ## Editing a cohort **1.** Navigate to **Admin** \> **User Management** \> **Manage Cohorts**. ![](https://help.acorn.works/hs-fs/hubfs/2023-08-29%2010-55-06-gif.gif?width=670&height=328&name=2023-08-29%2010-55-06-gif.gif) **2.** Expand the Cohort by clicking on it, and then click **Edit Cohort**. **3.** The cohort edit page allows you to make the following changes: - **Change the Cohort Name** - **Change the Cohort Description** - **Enable Cohort Features** - **Allow Supervisors to edit the Cohort** - **Allow users to request to join the cohort** - **Assign cohort managers to the cohort** - **Apply a Tax exemption for that cohort when making purchases on the PLMS** **4.** Click the **SAVE** button. ![](https://help.acorn.works/hs-fs/hubfs/2023-08-29%2011-06-46-gif.gif?width=670&height=328&name=2023-08-29%2011-06-46-gif.gif) ## Cohort settings and features - **The cohort features available from the Cohort Features dropdown field** - **On Leave** - Will designate the Cohort as on leave so its users will be excluded from Compliance Reports, receiving emails and notifications. - **Alternate Supervisors** - Will allow this cohort to be the designated list of users who can be selected to approve a Live Learning session registration if the user registering, does not have an active supervisor. - **CPD Points** - Allows users in this cohort to earn and track CPD (Continuing Professional Development) points on their Achievements page in My Learning. - **Capability** - Enables the Capability feature for users in this cohort, allowing them to view and track assigned competencies and skills. - **Supervisor Editable Cohort** If enabled, supervisors can manually add or remove the users they supervise from this cohort. They also gain an additional view on the **Supervisor** tab showing the cohorts they can update. - **Allow users to request to join the cohort**   If enabled, users will be able to view the name and description of this cohort. Cohort Managers can approve or deny any requests to join the cohort. Users can view requestable cohorts on the **Find Your Cohort** page. To surface this page for users, add a **Link Widget** on a homepage dashboard or share the direct link in other communications. - **Assign cohort managers to the cohort**   To add a cohort manager, click **Select Cohort Manager**, select the users you wish to assign, and click **Confirm**. -
