Release 1.6.6 - 3 June 2025
This update brings enhanced alignment between capabilities and learning content, full assessment history exports, and cleaner data workflows. Improved validation ensures widgets are correctly configured from the start, while terminology updates and UI refinements support a more intuitive and consistent user experience.
Version 1.6.6 will be rolling out on all sites from Tuesday 3rd June, 2025 (This is delayed from the usual Sunday for Canberra's Reconciliation Day).
What's New 🎊
AR-8024: AI-Powered Capability Mapping for Internal Content
A new admin-facing feature allows setup of intelligent capability-to-content mappings. Using AI, the system can now analyse your internal learning content and suggest relevant capabilities to associate with it—helping administrators quickly align training materials with organisational Capability frameworks.
Why did we do this?
This reduces the manual effort of mapping capabilities to content and ensures that development plans are consistently aligned with actual learning materials, making recommendations more accurate and scalable.
AR-8025: Capability Scorecard - Excel Export
Users can now export the Capability Scorecard to Excel, enabling external analysis and offline data sharing.
Why did we do this?
This makes it easier to review and report on capability data beyond the Acorn platform, especially for stakeholders who need a tangible format.
AR-8015: Full Assessment History Export
Users can now export their complete assessment history—including comments and results]—for use in external tools, reviews, or archival purposes.
Why did we do this?
This empowers learners and administrators to document, share, or analyse progress over time outside the Acorn environment.
Changes ✨
AR-8008: Langify Widget Configuration Labels
Field labels in widget configuration screens have been updated to support multilingual translation (a.k.a. "langified"). This includes replacing hardcoded English with structured language keys ready for localisation.
Why did we do this?
This change supports our broader initiative to make Acorn more accessible in multiple languages, and it closes the gap between frontend and backend language handling.
AR-7998: Removed Custom Colour Settings on Reporting Widgets
Custom colour pickers for reporting widgets have been removed. All widgets now adhere to the organisation’s theme colours by default.
Why did we do this?
This change simplifies configuration and ensures visual consistency across dashboards.
AR-8020: Backend Validation for Widget Required Fields
New backend validation has been introduced to ensure widgets cannot be created or saved unless all required fields are properly filled out. This applies to all widget types that rely on structured configuration.
Why did we do this?
Previously, it was possible to bypass required fields, leading to incomplete setups. This update ensures widgets are consistently created with the necessary data, improving reliability and reducing user errors.
AR-7775: Gated Access to Assessment Widget
The pending Assessment Widget will now only be visible when its feature toggle is active.
Why did we do this?
This ensures users only see features that are actually enabled, preventing confusion and maintaining a clean UI.
AR-7573: Removed Momentum Widget from Unsupported Dashboards
The Momentum Widget has been removed from standalone dashboards where it is not currently supported.
Why did we do this?
To prevent users from accessing widgets that are not functional in their environment, preserving dashboard accuracy and usability.
AR-7737: Capability Assessment – Updated Default Wording
We’ve updated key terminology in both the UI and automated emails—replacing the word “Review” with “Assess” when referring to capability evaluations.
Why did we do this?
The term “Assess” more accurately reflects the action supervisors take when evaluating team members’ capabilities. This change enhances clarity and aligns language across the platform with users' actual tasks and expectations.
🐞 Bug Fixes
AR-8032: Quizzes One Section per page view navigation problems
Prevent answers from previous sections being automatically populated into future sections within a quiz. This only occurred in the one section per page view.
AR-7997: Privacy Policy Redirect
Fixes a bug where confirming the privacy policy incorrectly scrolled users to the bottom of the page.
AR-7909: Supervisor Dashboard – Unauthorised Error
Supervisors now correctly see their dashboard even if the capability library isn’t launched.
AR-7908: ‘Assess by Capability’ Page Load Failure
Resolved a front-end error blocking the 'Assess by Capability' flow.
AR-7907: Development Plan Partner Content Server Error
Fixed server errors when accessing partner content during development plan setup.
AR-7755: Missing Capabilities in Development Plan View
All assigned and interest capabilities now display as expected.
AR-7638: Missing Cohort Assignment Option
Cohort selection is now available when setting up supervisor widgets in standalone mode.
AR-7626: Language Change Crashed Reports
Reports now load correctly after a language change is made.
AR-6911: Slider Widget Crash Without Media Upload
Resolved a crash when saving slider widgets without adding a video or image. This fits into our above introduction of the new widget validation during setup.
