[2026](https://help.acorn.works/help-centre/patch-notes?hsLang=en-au#2026) 19 October 2026 # Release 2.1 - 21 October 2026 ## Release 2.1 brings Smart Search and support for the xAPI, cmi5 and SCORM 2004 learning standards - alongside improvements to Development Plans, supervisor tools, Momentum and translation across Acorn. ### What's New 🎊 **Smart Search** - Smart Search finds learning based on what people mean, not just the words they type. Someone searching for "running better meetings" can find a course called "Facilitation skills", even though none of the words match. The best matches show first as top picks, and new or updated courses appear in search within about five minutes. To find an exact title, put it in quotes. Smart Search is a paid add-on for organisations using Acorn AI - contact your Customer Success manager to add it for your organisation. **New learning standards: xAPI, cmi5 and SCORM 2004** - Acorn now supports the newer e-learning standards, so you can upload xAPI, cmi5 and SCORM 2004 content and have it play and count towards completion like any other activity. xAPI content comes with a built-in Learning Record Store (LRS), so there's no separate LRS to set up. That opens up more of the content from modern authoring tools and content libraries. Choose SCORM Plus when you create an activity and upload your package as usual. Your existing SCORM activities don't change, and now appear as SCORM 1.2.   --- ### Improvements ✨ **Worth a look in Development Plans** - Development Plans now has a Worth a look section that points people to the plans that need attention. Learners see a card when a plan is coming up on or past its target date, hasn't been shared with their supervisor yet, or has just been endorsed. Supervisors see cards when someone on their team asks for a hand, a plan stalls or passes its target date, or a goal or plan is completed. Each page shows up to five cards, with the most urgent first. **Optional fields on account setup** - The account setup page now shows optional user fields as well as required ones, so new users can complete more of their profile in one go. Administrators choose which fields appear on account setup when they create or edit a user field in Manage Custom Fields. The page still only appears for users who are missing a required field. **Email verification for Acorn-to-Acorn sign-in** - If your organisation signs people in to another Acorn site through an Acorn SSO link, administrators can now require a one-time email confirmation the first time someone signs in to an existing account on that site. You can also stop the link from creating new accounts automatically. Both settings are off by default, so nothing changes for existing links until you switch them on. **Past Momentum applications in one place** - A new Past applications button under My applications on the Momentum homepage lists every Momentum application you've created or acted on, across all workflows, newest first. **More of Acorn in your language** - More of Acorn now appears in each person's chosen language, including the dashboard calendars and charts, My Stats, table page controls, file upload fields, content status labels, administration breadcrumbs, bell notifications and the built-in achievement badges. Longer translated labels on upload buttons now fit properly too. **Show My Team Only on completions** - Supervisors who are also facilitators or administrators of a course or live learning can now tick Show My Team Only on its completions page to see just their direct reports, in both the table and the CSV export. On live learning, the list includes everyone in the team, even people who haven't started yet. --- ### Bug Fixes 🐞 Fixed an issue where Momentum action reminder emails stopped sending for every organisation when a reminder time had been typed in by hand. (CORE-330) Fixed an issue where refresher workflow reminder emails were not sent when the email contained a pasted image. (CORE-325) Fixed an issue where clearing a dropdown answer in a form didn't hide or show the questions that depend on it. (CORE-329) Fixed an issue where the CPD report could include results from the day before the start date, or miss results from the end date, after going back a step in the report setup. (CORE-292) Fixed an issue where dates in the Upcoming panel on the profile page wrapped a few letters at a time. (CORE-294) Fixed an issue where long category names overlapped in the CPD Points panel on the profile page, and where the panel didn't load if a category name contained a full stop. (MPL-13) Fixed an issue where links in a course description lost their link colour and looked like plain text. (LEARN-232) Fixed an issue where the list for hiding partnered content could time out for organisations with a large catalogue shared across many sites. (LEARN-271) Fixed an issue where enrolling a learner through the API failed on courses that require approval. (LEARN-283) Fixed an issue where the compliance report for a program, generated through the API, showed the program's content as it was when the report was saved rather than its current content.
