Release 1.6.4 - 4 May 2025

This patch has a large number of smaller changes, including Capability Cohort Discovery quality of life changes, some widget updates focussing on accessibility, and beginning to retire old quizzes.

Version 1.6.4 will be rolling out on all sites from Sunday 4th May, 2025.

This release is a big one for two reasons. Firstly, because of the Easter long weekend, we are releasing Patches 1.6.3 and 1.6.4 at the same time. Secondly, we're releasing it on Star Wars day, May 4th. Prepare yourself for a patch notes full of system updates paired with barely-related Star Wars quotes. Check them out below, and may the force be with you.

What's New! 🎊

AR-7672  Added Launch button to approvals table in Capability Cohort Discovery process

"Hold on, this whole operation was your idea."

The admin view of the Capability Cohort Discovery shows the status of each individual discovery, including the current status of the approval. The admin could already open the approval to trigger the launch of the changes, but we've introduced a new button to the main view page that allows admins to launch in the same way. Should save a few clicks when launching an approved cohort update.

AR-7673  Allow admins to update the name of each individual Capability Cohort Discovery

"Henceforth, you shall be known as Darth... Vader."

We've also made a change to the Capability Cohort Discovery page, to allow admins to rename each discovery process. The name of each defaults to the time it was setup, but can be changed at any time. This is most helpful if you setup multiple targeted discoveries, and want to keep which is which clear for your admins.

AR-7794  Added a sticky column to the Capability Scorecard View

"I'll try [not scrolling], thats a good trick!"

In order to make the Capability Scorecard always show the most relevant information, we've made the capability name column sticky to the left, so it will always appear, even when scrolling.

AR-7347  Prevent creation of old quizzes, unless old quizzes have already been created

"Let the past die. Kill it, if you have to."

In order to better support our new Quiz Plus activity, we are removing the ability to create activities with the previous Quiz labelling. Any tenancy that is already using the old quizzes will continue to be able to use them, but new tenancies will only see the option for Quiz Plus.

AR-7668  Allow Momentum Admins to re-trigger the report cache

"Somehow, Palpatine returned."

In order for the momentum report to load well, it uses a caching system to save the data from the last X hours. We've added a button to the report view, so that admins can re-trigger the cache, fetching the most up to date data. This will reload the page, and may take some time to process as it does.

AR-7751  Momentum Update User Data Node only shows user fields that match the same type as the chosen constant

"Begun, the Clone Wars have."

The Update User Data Node changes a user's data to match a constant within the momentum. We've made a quality of life change so that the available user data fields will only show if they are the same type as the constants. This will prevent strange data conversions from happening.

AR-7336  Add help text for 'Cron String' in Momentum transition type

"What I really need is a droid who understands the binary language of moisture vaporators."

Then momentum transition option for Cron was not very well explained. We've added some help text to the option that better explains how it works, and how to supply a valid cron string.

AR-7814  Added "Open in New Tab" setting to the Image Widget

"This is getting out of hand. Now there are two of them!" - referring to the number of tabs after clicking an image widget

Previously, the image widget link would always open in a new tab. We've added a new option to define if a user clicking the link should be taken to the page in a new tab or on the same page. The default for new and existing widgets is new tab, but can be changed by an admin.

AR-7525  Allow users to update their own mobile phone number

"A communications disruption could mean only one thing: Invasion."

The SMS notification feature allows admins to set a user's phone number, but the user is now able to change their phone number on the My Profile page.

AR-7659  Update Feedback Form dropdown accessibility

"General Grievous. You're [wider] than I expected."

Made a change to the dropdown component used in the Feedback Form, to allow for better mobile usage.

AR-7433  Calendar Days screenreader consistency

"But I was going into Tosche station to pick up some [abbreviation] converters!"

Previously, we were using the abbreviated day names for the calendar, which was visually clear. However, screen reading software treats these inconsistently, as it was able to identify Thurs as the abbreviated form of Thursday, but Sun is already a word so doesn't get un-abbreviated to Sunday.

We've changed the alt-text for these manually, so that the full day name is used.

Bug Fixes 🐞

AR-7785  Errors sent from ANZ Worldline are now better handled, and shown to the user when relevant

"Not to worry, we are still flying half a ship."

When a user encounters an error during an ANZ Worldline payment, we now show the error to the user when it is relevant. This can include errors about an invalid card, insufficient funds, or a denied payment request.

AR-5289  Made adjustment to field label in the Image Widget

"Always remember, your [keyboard] focus determines your reality."

The Image Widget has a title field, that can be used to set the Alt Title for screenreader users. The wording of this label has been changed to better reflect this.

AR-7815  Prevent admins and supervisors from enrolling users into deactivated content

"You [actually do] need to see his identification."

The Course Enrolment page was showing deactivated courses in it's list, and allowing both admins and supervisors to choose to enrol their users into them. The users would not be able to view anything on the course page, but the ability to do so (and send notifications when it happened) was causing confusion. We've removed deactivated courses from this page.
