Troubleshooting: Program and Learning Path Issues
Resolve common issues with program completion, course ordering, and learner access.
Programs (also called Learning Paths) group multiple courses into a structured sequence. This article covers the most common issues reported with programs, including completion not recording, courses not appearing in the correct order, and learner access problems.
Issue: Learner cannot access all courses in the program
If courses within the program are set up with Enforce Stage Order (i.e. each course must be completed before the next unlocks), the learner must fully complete the previous course first. Check:
- If Enforce Stage Order is turned on.
- Whether the previous course has a completion criterion that has not been met
- Whether the next course has a Prerequisite that jas not been completed.
If Enforce Stage Order access is not intended, disable it in the program settings and allow open access to all courses.
Issue: Program is not appearing for the learner
Programs follow the same visibility rules as individual courses. Check:
- The program is not set to Hidden.
- If the program is restricted to a cohort.
Issue: A course added to the program is not appearing inside it
After adding a new course to a program, it may take a few minutes to appear for learners. If the course still does not appear:
- Confirm the course is published and not in a draft or deactivated state.
- Check that the course has been saved correctly within the program structure (go to the program settings and verify the course is listed).
